Day Two: France

Today we visited Thiepval Memorial, the Ulster Tower, memorials to some 'Pals Battalions' and the Newfoundland Memorial.

Near the Ulster towers are some trenches that have been excavated. Matthew Jones had the chance to dress as a First World War soldier to illustrate the tour as we looked round them.

Menin Gate ceremony

Ridgewood students were involved in the 'Last Post' ceremony this evening. Hannah Wright was selected to read a poem, but at the last moment a Corporal from the New Zealand army took her place as special guest! Neil Jones, Jordan Gillies, Chris Pownall, and Frances Oliver joined Hannah in laying a wreath.

Here they are with the special guest - more pictures to follow!
